VACON Design started as a freelance company by Andreas Prenen. 

Born in the small city of Geel in Belgium, as a child he was always interested in stages. Whether it was at a town festival, a theater performance or anywhere else, you could always find him at the front of house asking questions about the many buttons and how it all worked.

This still being the case years later, he was known by many companies around the city and some began to ask him to work for them.

After tasting the freelance life as a student worker he was determined to start his own freelance company working as a subcontractor for many light and sound companies.

The biggest breakthrough came when PRG, a very large and world renowned technical production company asked him to do jobs for them. He learned a lot of new skills and pivoted his work towards video system engineering and mediaserver / switcher operating.

Andreas is also active in a large online community where his company is one of the leading production companies for their live events. He takes on the roll of Production manager and technical designer and is completely hooked.

At the same time he was building his own mediaservers to run shows with. But it wasn't until another company asked if they could purchase from him that he started building mediaservers and other rackmount computers as a side business to further his passion and career.

Overall he had a lot of contact with may people, from warehouse workers to CEO's of large multinational AV companies. He was able to pick their brain on where problems lie, what the next steps are, different paths to take and anything else to do with managing and operating an audiovisual company. This made him get requests from smaller audiovisual companies to give advice on their company and how it operates.

Much like Andreas, VACON Design never runs out of passion for the industry and thrives for perfection every step of the way.
